Clinton Bradley Sherrill, Sr. 71, was received into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 4, 2017 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Clinton was born in Crab Orchard, Tennessee on November 19, 1945 to the late Bradley and Lillie Sherrill. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Doyle, Donald, and Andrew Sherrill as well as two sisters, Greta Lou Sherrill and Rita Belle Thompson.
Clinton spent his childhood in Crossville, Tennessee and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana at the age of 19, and married Connie Kaye Compton on June 25, 1966. He served his country as a member of the United States Army, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. Clinton worked various jobs before settling on a career with the USPS. He retired after 43 years of service, with the last 15 serving as Postmaster at Ellettsville, Indiana. He loved his work and the people he served. Clinton always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met.
His hobbies included drag racing, fishing, growing his “own groceries” and working on old cars. He was a master at finding uses for duct tape, and for finding creative ways to salvage and reuse anything from his garage. His passion was serving his Lord and Savior and witnessing to everyone he met until the brain cancer prevented him from talking. His favorite chapter in the Bible was John 14. He loved his family and treasured the time he spent with all his grandchildren.
