Estrellita Ashby, 73, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Meyers, Florida. She was born on August 31, 1943 in Manilla, Philippines to the late Candido and Celerina Vergara. Estrellita married Tony Ashby May 21, 1967, and became a United States Citizen on December 9, 1975. She was a Master’s Level Social Worker, and devoted her career to helping the developmentally disabled. Estrellita was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Helen Ashby; father-in-law, Takuma Ashby; and brother Delfin Vergara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday March 30, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil (142 North Washington Street). The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Humane Society.
