Pearl Allen

Pearl Allen, 106, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her home in Terre Haute. She was born in Terre Haute on May 24, 1911 to the late Fred and Louise (Brown) Smith. Pearl graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1929, and the St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1932. She married her first husband Clarence Jack Long on March 31, 1940 and her second husband, Floyd M. Allen on October 15, 1969, they both preceded her in death.

Pearl worked as a private registered nurse for several years before going to work at the Clay County Hospital during the war. She was also on staff at Vigo Ordnance and the Straw Steel Company. Pearl loved to travel, visiting most of the United States as well as Switzerland, Austria, England and Ireland. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil, Clay County R.N. Club, the Nightingale Club in Terre Haute, and the St. Anthony’s Alumni.

Barbara (Leon) Mercer, Carbon, Indiana

Several Nieces, Nephews and other extended family

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 23, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana. The family will accept friends for visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Friday.
