Charles Robert (C.R.) Boyd, 75, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 12, 2018 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. He was born on September 10, 1942 in Brazil to the late Stephen and Mamie (Reed) Boyd. C.R graduated from Brazil High School in 1960, and served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Carolyn Smith on April 8, 1961.
C.R. retired from Allison Transmission after 25 years. He also worked for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, and served two terms as the Clay County Assessor. C.R. was a 50 year Mason, a member of Carbon Baptist Church, and also a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed square dancing, and began calling and teaching the Swinging Mates in 1992. In his spare time he enjoyed drinking coffee with friends at McDonalds, playing tennis, roller skating, riding motorcycles, but mostly spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Adams and Betty Early.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Richard McShannog officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benwood Mt. Lebanon Church.
