Brazil, Indiana

Clifford “Herb” Van Ness, 70, passed away September 2, 2019 at the Gibson Family Hospice Facility in Terre Haute with his family by his side. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 23, 1948 to the late Charles and Norman (Reinking) Van Ness. Herb graduated from Southport High School and worked for the Indianapolis Water Company for 33 years as a chemist, and retired in 2002 to farm. He married Mary Kathleen Best in 1990, and they built a home on that farm.

Herb was a strong, gentle soul with a heart of gold. In his free time he enjoyed working on the computer, listening to music, fishing, reading, working on equipment, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors Include:

Wife: Kathy Van Ness

Son: Tony (Carmen) Van Ness

Step-Daughter: Jennifer Best

Grandchildren: Ashley, Jessie, and Ty

Three Great-Grandchildren

Moore Funeral Home in Brazil was entrusted with Herb’s cremation arrangements. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
