I'm sorry we were unable to come to Doris' visitation. We so enjoyed working with her at Centenary United Methodist. Doris was the first one to really encourage our daughter, Samantha, to sing in public. She worked with her and encouraged her, and now she has a degree in musical theater and is working with a traveling children's theater company. Doris also made a difference for our kids with the handbells. She taught our son and another student a duet on the handbells, which they performed at the Christmas program. She saw talent in kids and worked patiently with them to make music. She was tireless, even when sick, and a true servant leader. We are so glad to have known her.

So sorry to hear of Doris' passing, but celebrating with you her presence with the Lord. Doris was the Director of the Van Buren Swing Choir and we all had a wonderful time as she pushed us out of our comfort zones to enjoy performing. She was kind, patient, and a great teacher. Praying for the comfort of your family as I'm sure you are all missing her smile. Blessings, Dan Price

It's very hard to put into words what Doris meant to me and so many others. She was not only a wonderful teacher but also a friend and perhaps, even like a mother to us. She cared so deeply about each and everyone of her students and always expressed her concern for us. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself and gave me the confidence to strive. I am so thankful for her being in my life and for the lifetime of memories, that were some of the best times I have ever had. I will miss her dearly. I wish her family love and my deepest sympathy. May your memories of her bring you comfort during this time of loss.

I learned a lot from Mrs Pell. We had a lot of fun too. Musicals, swing choir, summer showcase...she certainly made Van Buren a lot more interesting! I know she will be missed. Michael Stevenson

Doris and Jim were musicians in the Brazil Concert Band for many years.
Doris played saxophone and Jim performed on timpani and also played snare drum in the Jackson Township Community Band.
Both gave music lessons to John and Janelle who became school music teachers.
The Huber Family and the Brazil Concert Band will miss Doris. The BCB will be purchasing a special selection of music to perform in her memory during the 2018 season of concerts at Forest Park.

Susan and family: Doris was one of my idols in high school and college. She was a wonderful woman. She was part of my early musical world in Terre Haute and a bright spot in the life of everyone who knew her. I'm sure you'll all miss her, but she left a great legacy.
