Eva M. (Cooksey) Hayes

Brazil, Indiana

Eva M. Hayes, 93, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on January 29, 1925 to the late Raymond Cooksey, Sr. and Bertha (Mitscher) Cooksey Tice. She attended Brazil High School, and married Wilmer Hayes on August 7, 1942. Eva worked many jobs in life, including Columbia Records, Hi-Grade Meat Packing, and caring for children. She was a longtime member of Staunton Christian Church, and recently became of member of the Carbon Baptist Church. 

Eva loved spending time with her family. Cooking for birthdays, and other events. She enjoyed crocheting, writing poems, but most importantly reading her Bible. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings, Clyde Cooksey, Raymond Cooksey, Jr. and Thelma Hughbanks.

    Three Great-Great Grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating and burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
