Gladys Irene Crabb, 94, passed away Tuesday July 18, 2017 at her home in Brazil. She was born in Greenville, Illinois on September 14, 1922 to the late John and Estella (Cummings) Bailey. Gladys graduated from Brazil High School in 1940, graduated valedictorian of the 1945 class at St. Anthony’s School Nursing and later married William Crabb on June 29, 1946. Mrs. Crabb was a registered nurse for Dr. Shattuck, and the Clay County Hospital. After retirement, Gladys worked as the nurse for Great Dane Trailers.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil, as well as the Clay County Nurses Association, the Delta Theta Tau Beta Chapter and the Nightingales. Gladys enjoyed baking, earning the nickname “cookie”, loved family activities, serving as youth leader at church, and participating in her children's activities throughout life.

Mrs. Crabb was preceded in death by her husband, and siblings, Farris Bailey, Ralph Bailey Wendell Bailey, Florence Evans, Laura Stallcup, and Betty Lynch.

Sister-in-laws: June Crabb, Brazil, Indiana
Charlotte Crabb, Brazil, Indiana

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday July 24, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Gary Scroggins officiating and burial to follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Sunday, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
