James Maurice Carlton, 72, went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 1, 1946 in McLeansboro, Illinois to the late Rev. Samuel Carlton and Louise (Miller) Carlton. Jim graduated from Brazil High School in 1965, attended Barber College in Indianapolis and spent over 50 years cutting hair in Brazil. He went on to marry his late first wife, and mother of his children, Nedra L. Byers, on June 25, 1966. Jim later married Sandra Parks on June 30, 2012.
Jim was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson and Gatlinburg. He enjoyed automobiles, his dogs, and loved his God and his family.

Grandson: Grant Johnson
Step-Grandchildren: Crystal (Gary) Lawson, Clay City, Indiana
Great Grandchildren: Dillon, Katie Rose, Madeline, Laila

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Brazil with Rev. Doctor Douglas Anderson officiating and burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil. The family will accept friends for visitation on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until to time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
