Joann B “Greenie” Goss, 85, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at her home with her daughters by her side. She was born April 13, 1934 in Brazil to the late Basil and Helen Green. Joann graduated early from Brazil High School in 1951, having skipped a grade in elementary school. She married Everett “Jughead” Goss July 14, 1951.
Basketball is life in Indiana, but no one in the Hoosier state lived that more than Joann. A lifelong Indiana University fan, she never missed a game. If you knew her, you knew she didn’t like to be bothered, especially during March Madness. She ran The Alabama with her husband for 10 years, and Larry Bird even stopped in to enjoy a pork tenderloin sandwich. She was a lifelong member of the Annunciation Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends and they got together nearly every week for more than 70 years. Joann never lost her razor sharp wit and was making her family laugh until the very end.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband Everett “Jughead” Goss and daughter Joetta Goss.
She is survived by her daughters Marcy Crowder of Brazil, Annetta (Russ) Chittum of Boonville, MO, Angela Goss of Terre Haute; grandchildren Nieccole (Tony) Hilliard, Josh (Kris) Chittum, Corey (Caitlyn) Crowder, Kelli Chittum, Kerri Chittum; great-grandchildren Grace Hilliard, Ethel Hilliard, Cabella Crowder, Cayse Crowder; and other extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Humane Society.
A private family graveside will be held at Cottage Hill Cemetery.
