John E. Schraedley, Jr., 81, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home in Brazil. He was born in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania on March 16, 1936 to the late John E. and Vera M. (Deckman) Schraedley. John retired from the United States Air Force after over 20 years of service to his country. He served in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Air Commandos, and spent 11 years overseas in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. 

 

After leaving the military, John spent 20 years employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion Honor Guard, a member of the EOD Master Blasters, Knightsville Masonic Lodge, and the Brazil Eagles Lodge. John was a Scout Master for several years, enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Schraedley, and sister, Marie Murray.

    Twelve Great-Grandchildren

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday September 1, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Bishop Ben Kulp officiating, and burial with military honors to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, a Masonic Lodge Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
