Lena M. Whistler, 94, passed away Tuesday June 4, 2019 at her home in Brazil surrounded by her family. She was born on March 21, 1925 in Cooper, Texas to the late Tom and Helen (McMillen) Hays. Lena married Donald Whistler, and retired from Glasco and also worked for PCCS in Clay County. She was a member of Benwood Church and the Red Hat Society.
Lena enjoyed going out to eat, traveling, sitting on her porch watching humming birds, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sons, Ronald and Larry; grandson, David Ross Whistler; and her sisters Loveta Burger, Cleo Rankin, and Ozell Sweeney; and her brothers, Robert and TG Hays. The girls were known as “The Golden Girls”.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jason Weir officiating and burial to follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
