Marvin Jack Whittington, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Waters of Greencastle. He was born in Hoosierville, Indiana on February 4, 1931 to the late Willy and May (Lash) Whittington. Jack served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and later married Wanda Siples on December 21, 1956. He retired in 1995 from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology after 28 years.

 

In their early years, Jack and Wanda enjoyed camping and traveling. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with small engines, and he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Disabled American Vets, VFW #1127, and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #541. Jack has been a member of Berea Christian Church since 1967, where he served many roles including deacon and class president. 

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ivan Fritz, Austin Frost; and sisters, Irene Patterson, Grace Callahan, and Lucille Rhine; brother-in-law, Delbert Siples, great-niece, Brandee Siples and a great-nephew, Chase Morris. 

 

Survivors Include:

 

    Wife of 60 years:    Wanda Whittington, Brazil, Indiana

 

    Brother-in-law:     Darrell (Bonnie) Siples, Harmony, Indiana

 

    SIster-in-Law:        Phyllis Siples, Brazil, Indiana

                Joanna Fritz, Brazil, Indiana

 

    Nieces and Nephews:    Larry (Anne) Siples

                Terry (Pam) Siples

                Sara (Chip) Morris

                David (Carrie) Siples

                Matt (Holly) Siples

                Marcia (Dick) Raab

                Nancy Turner

 

    Several Great-Nieces and Nephews

 

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Tom Hess officiating and burial with military honors to follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Humane Society.
