Arlene Barrington, 95, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 surrounded by her family at home. She was born in Harvey, Illinois on April 29, 1929 to the late Ralph and Nellie (Starke) Swigart. Arlene grew up in the Blackhawk area, and graduated from the Blackhawk School. She later married Roland Barrington.
Arlene spent a good portion of her later years living in Florida. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, and loved to travel. She also enjoyed reading. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Callahan; and son-in-law, Ron Harms.
Survivors include her sons, David Callahan of Reelsville and Timothy (Tammy) Callahan of Center Point, and Jim Barrington of Clearwater, Florida; daughter, Linda Harms of Brazil and Judy (Tom) Hobbs of Jackson, Tennessee ; brother, Don Swigart of Seabring, Florida; sister, Sharon (Charles) Davis of Seabring, Florida; grandchildren, Ryan (Cherish) Callahan, Troye (Ginger) Callahan, Shauna (Troy) Steele, Joshua (Rebekah) Callahan, Jenna (Adam) Starbuck, Stephanie (Mark) Pennywitt, Donnie (Candice) Roberts, Dava (Phil) Boor, Russell (Jennie) Harms, Melinda (Bernie) Meunier, Molly (Roger) Schopmeyer, Melanie (Ray) McIlrath, Jason Barrington, Valerie Barrington, Stephen (Amber) Hobbs, Andrea (Joel) Dickerson, Nathan (Abigail) Hobbs, Paul (Julia) Hobbs, Anna (Daniel) Tucker, Judah (Allyn) Hobbs, Hadashah Hobbs and Danica Hobbs; fur baby, Remi; and special caregivers, Kevin (Susie) Eckiss and Lori Wilson.
