Benjamin Lee Sowers, 79, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2021 after a brief stay in the hospital. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 19, 1941 to the late Frank Benjamin and Virginia (Mewhinney) Sowers. Ben graduated from Bowling Green High School, and later earned his X-Ray Degree from Madison College. He married Hazel Cox on June 24, 1962, they are members of the Terre Haute Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ben was the owner and operator of BLS Contractors.
When Ben wasn’t working, he enjoyed working..... He loved to tinker, work on woodworking projects, and work around the property. When he did slow down, he loved spending winters in Florida and time with his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Benjie Sowers, and his sister Helen Young.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Sowers; Sons, Brent Sowers and Rex (Shannon) Sowers; Daughter, Shannon Caplinger; brother, John (Ann) Sowers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the camp ground on the Sower’s Farm with Brother Dusty Langley and Pastor Ken Olin officiating. A celebration of Ben’s life and pitch in dinner will be held immediately following the service. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil.
