Betty Jean (Moore) Palm Obituary

Betty Jean Palm, 90, passed away Friday December 15, 2023 at Hutsonwood of Brazil. She was born on October 30, 1933 in Cayuga, Indiana to the late John and Katherine (Grubbs) Moore. Betty graduated from Newport High School in 1951, and married Robert Palm on February 28, 1953, they were married for 60 years. She worked as a special education aid for Benton Central Schools, the ISU Bookstore, as well as the Brazil Library Bookstore.

Betty was known for her cooking, and baking. In her free time she enjoyed playing card games, doing crafts, and working in her gardens. In her early years she loved to travel, visiting all the states except 2, and traveled overseas multiple times. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; and grandson John David Palm; sisters Patti Berry and Marjorie Knott.

Survivors include her daughters, Lana Kay (Rex) Taylor and Rita Jane Brown; son, John Robert (Vicki) Palm; grandchildren, Lyana (Doug) Smith, Aaron (Carrie) Taylor, Christopher Brown, Amie (Jason) Maurer, and Jeremy (Megan) Palm; as well as eleven great grandchildren.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Brazil with Pastor Kerry Clear officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made Clay County Food Pantry or the Brazil City Library.
