Obituary

Deann Schiele, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her home in Terre Haute surrounded by family. She was born on May 26, 1944 in Brazil to the late Ned and Vera (Thornton) Pierce. Deann graduated from Brazil High School in the class of 1963. After graduation, she immediately started working for Columbia House where she spent 38 years before retiring in 2002. Deann married Herman Schiele in 1978. In her free time, Deann enjoyed gardening, reading fiction novels, and having lunch with her friends. 

Deann is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Schiele; and brother, Robert Pierce. Survivors include; sister, Maryellen (John) Christeson of Terre Haute; brother, Mike Pierce of Colorado; nieces, Catherine Christeson of Terre Haute, Cora Beth (Matthew) Rich of Brazil; great-nieces, Mylee Christeson of Terre Haute, Cora (Brandon) Wilson of Brazil; great-nephew, Aaron Sapp of Brazil; great-great niece, Margaret Wilson of Brazil; step-son, Jeff Schiele and family of Zanesville, Ohio; and a very special friend, Nola Blueher of Brazil. 

A private graveside service will be held at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating. Deann is described as kind and generous; always donating to charities. Memorial contributions may be made in Deann’s honor to a charity of your choice.
