Elizabeth Jane (Trytko) Wood

Elizabeth Jane Wood, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at her home. She was born on November 22, 1931 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Walter and Claire (Trukowski) Trytko. Elizabeth graduated from South Bend Catholic High School, and attended college for business. Elizabeth married Jerry Leon Wood on September 19, 1953, and worked for Great Dane Trailers in employee relations for over 20 years.

Family was her priority, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted christian, and very active member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil, religiously reading her bible and volunteering in the Clothes Closet at church. Elizabeth enjoyed watching sports, from Northview games on the porch to watching her beloved Fighting Irish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; baby boy, John Joseph Wood; brothers, Benjamin, Eugene, and Clemont; sisters, Valerie Szabo, Veronica Nowak, and Monica Bice; as well as her grandson, Calvin Seals.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Wood of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jim (Molly) Wood of Mooresville, Indiana; daughters, Michelle Mock, of Bluffton, Indiana, Mary Flesher of Plainfield, Indiana, Joy Wood of Brazil, Indiana, and Julie (Dennis) Mounce of Bedford, Indiana; grandchildren, Stacy (Shawn) Kruse, Lamon (Brianna) Seals, Danielle (Simon) Andrews, Meghan (Michael) Cosyleon, Bethany Wood, Ben (Caitlyn Jenkins) Wood, Bram (Caroline Crouch) Wood, Morgan (Wyatt Young) Wood, and Hannah Mounce; Twenty great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. She will be laid to rest with her grandson at Summit Lawn Cemetery at a later date. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service.
