Florence Joan Nelson Garlit, 86, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. She was born on June 19, 1935 in Lewis, Indiana to the late Harry and Bertha (Hays) Nelson. She married Roy L. Garlit who preceded her in death on December 16, 2019. Jo attended the Clay City Assembly of God, and served the Lord fervently. Some of her favorite hymns were "Old Rugged Cross", "Near the Cross" and "Amazing Grace". She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd, Harry, Ralph, Norman, and Bob Nelson; as well as her sisters, Bonnie Waltman, Evelyn Rehmel, and Ruth Brown. 

Survivors include her son, Michael L. (Jane Ann) Garlit of Brazil, Indiana; daughter, Gail L. Garlit Petty Boll of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Ben Garlit, Eddie McHargue, Laine Garlit, Stevie (Luke) Spetter, Billy Petty, Gracie Petty, Jillie Petty, and Lindy Petty; as well as many great grandchildren.
