Forrest Page Swan, 69, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at his home in Brazil with his family by his side. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 21, 1952 to the late Clarence and Violet (Peters) Swan. Forrest attended Miami-Edison High School as well as Brazil High School. He married Hazel Ellis on his birthday in 1970, and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
After attending Ivy Tech, Forrest worked for the Vigo County Highway Department before becoming the Superintendent of the Terre Haute Street Department. Later he was a police officer for the City of Brazil. After leaving the police department, he worked as a corrections officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility, and after retirement he worked for the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and part time as security for the Brazil Parks Department.
In his free time he enjoyed drafting and CAD design, stock car racing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Swan; daughters, Tina (Dean) Coltharp and Tammy (Joe) Parr; grandchildren, Tara Coltharp, Christian Swan, Josey Parr, Kayle Coltharp, Noah Parr, and Maddie Parr; great-grandsons, Preston and Owen Layne.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for their care of Forrest in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Dennis Holley officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service.
