Herbert Hoyt Heading, 72, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his home in Brazil. He was born in Michigan on December 21, 1953 to the late Leonard and Ruth (Bond) Heading. Herb served his country in the United States Navy, and retired from the Putnamville Correctional Institution. He married Susan Holley on April 21, 2001, and attended the Jackson Street Wesleyan Church.

Herb loved to read and study religion, and working word search and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed building things, and going on day trips to visit restaurants and other attractions. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Kay; mother in law, Pearll Holleyand several siblings.

Survivors include his wife Susan Heading; sons, Jeremy (Amy) Heading, Michael (Rachel) Heading, Dustin (Rachel) Spicer, Daniel (Amber Clark) Spicer; brother, Edward (Cherie) Heading; sister, Edith White; grandchildren, Kylie, Michael, Tyler, Liam, Erica,  Alyssa (Wade), Kenzie, Maci, Danielle (Isaiah), Rowynn, and Christian; and Seven Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
