Jack Lewis Thomas, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 while staying at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. He was born in Clinton, Indiana on December 28, 1931 to the late Coy and Grace (Galbraith) Thomas. Jack graduated from George Rogers Clark High School, and served his country in the 5th Army, 10th Mountain Division during the Korean War, before returning to Clay County. He married Barbara Peebles Withers on October 17, 1986 and they were members of the First Christian Church in Brazil.
Jack spent most of his career in sales, and also managed the Clay County Airport for almost 20 years before retiring. In his free time, he loved to travel, fly his plane, and work in the garden. Jack was extremely faithful to his Christian Ministry. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Mankin.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Thomas, sons, David (Cheryl) Thomas, and Jackie (Lisa) Withers; daughters, Stephanie (Tony) Liston and Piper (Paul) German; Eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the First Christian Church of Brazil with Pastor Mark Grayless Officiating and burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International to be used to supply bibles around the globe.
