James Melvin Bales, 66, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. He was born on October 26, 1957 in Greencastle to the late Lewis Clyde and Kathleen (Williams) Bales. James worked as a Waste Water Treatment Technician for the City of Brazil Utilities.
In this free time James enjoyed watching all types of sports, including Colts Football, and NASCAR. He was an avid mechanic, but the highlight of his time off was spending time with his grandkids at their events.
Survivors include his wife, Cathleen, of Brazil; sons, Jaime (Lynn) Bales, of Terre Haute, and Jeremy Bales of Terre Haute; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Rodgers of Brazil; grandchildren, Rebecca Bales, Hannah Bales, Chaylee Bales, Chase Bales, Bodey Bales, Brinley Bales, Tanner (Tabitha) Kaelber, Austin Kaelber, Clayton Kaelber, and Jessamyn (J.D.) Cameron; and
several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Jame’s life will be held at a later date. Moore Funeral Home in Brazil was entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
