James "Jim" Pell

James “Jim” Pell, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2022 in Terre Haute. He was born in Carbon, Indiana on April 21, 1936 to the late Earl and Lillian (Armstrong) Pell. Jim graduated from Brazil High School before attending Indiana University where he played with the “Marching 100” and earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Industrial Arts Education from Indiana State University. He earned the title of Eagle Scout, and served his country in the National Guard.

Jim was an independent insurance and real estate agent and also taught Industrial Arts at Ben Davis High School. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, and loved playing with the Brazil Concert Band. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Doris Hardman Pell; brother, John Herman Pell; and sister, Patricia Pell Dunlop.

Survivors include his son, Bob (Lori) Pell of Terre Haute; daughters, Christy Pell of Greencastle, Susan Pell of Terre Haute, and Patty (Bud) Pell Patterson of Brazil; Eight Grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday August 27, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor John Pierce officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brazil Concert Band.
