Jeffery Niewald, 65, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Sullivan, Indiana on February 9, 1957 to the late Harry and Betty (Peyton) Niewald. Jeff graduated from Van Buren High School where he played basketball and excelled in track. He was a lifelong mechanic, known to many as “Mr. Wrench” and could fix anything. Jeff was the owner of Niewald’s Repair Shop that later evolved into J-K Cycle Supply.
He enjoyed playing music, including his days playing bass with the band “Axis” in the 80’s. Jeff also loved being in the wind on his Harley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry “Butch” Niewald; sister, Gloria Jean “GJ” Cloyd; and brother-in-law, Jeff Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy “Fly” Niewald; sons, David (Lori) Niewald, Kenny (Brandy) Pierce; sister, Darlene Warrum; brother-in-law, Marshall Cloyd; sister-in-law, Lori Pierce, Cindy (Jay) Schmitz; grandchildren, Haven (Erin) Lawson, Jackson Pierce, and Kohlson Pierce; great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, Sophie, and River; mother-in-law, Goldie Cheeseman; K9 Companion, Gunner; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at the Knightsville Community Center on February 5, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 P.M. Moore Funeral Home in Brazil was entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
