JoAnn Price-Brattain Obituary

JoAnn Price-Brattain claimed her well-earned spot next to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. JoAnn was born on November 3, 1940 in Indianapolis to Ollie and Jarmon Perkins, and had four brothers: Jarmon (Patty), Norman, Johnny and Tommy. She attended Ben Davis High School, obtained her GED, and received an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College for Computer Programming. With her gregarious spirit, JoAnn sold advertising for Yellow Pages, was the right hand for owners of Rosewood Productions and retired as a school bus driver for Clay Community Schools in Brazil, Indiana after dedicating 35 years. JoAnn spent her golden years exploring the Florida coast and living life to the fullest with her late beloved husband, John Brattain.

With her contagious smile and ever-growing heart, JoAnn gave an endless amount of love and support to all— especially to her grandchildren. Her wisdom, wittiness and optimism will be profoundly missed. She was a thoughtful woman who never missed an opportunity to give a call, card, small gift or hug to anyone in need. Even the State of Indiana and City of Brazil recognized her immeasurable impact to her community by granting her the Distinguished Hoosier Award and the Key to the City.

JoAnn devoted her life to her family: sons Donnie (Cheryl Crane) Price of Holiday, Florida and Bucky (Lisa) Price of Brazil, Indiana; daughters Cyndi (Andy Wynn) Moore and Chrissy Lawson of New Port Richey, Florida, Tracy Skinner of Brazil, Indiana, Gina (Mark) Secor of Kearney, Nebraska and Nonnie Shumaker and Mary Beth (Carl) Olsen of Indianapolis; brother, Jarmon (Patty) Perkins, of Princeton, Indiana; grandchildren, Tyler (Brandi) Tutterow, Stephanie (Shawn) Cook, Jacob (Arika Herron) Price, Nici (Christopher) Hernandez, Jessica (Jacob) Parkins, Austin (Sidney) Secor, Nate Thomas, Tori Secor, Joey Price, Macy Moore, Amber (John) Merritt, Shawn Price, Jericho (Marwane) Elomari, Jordan (Tim) Shay, Jack Hancock, Tuesday Price, Ashley White and Danny Haywood; many great-grandchildren; an abundance of friends turned family—  Sharon, Evelyn and many, many more. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and fathers to her children, David Workman and Donald Fred Price.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, Indiana. The family will accept friends for visitation on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. A private burial will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. In honor of JoAnn and her love of sending cards, her family will collect greeting cards to place in her casket.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
