John L. Stephenson, 78, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Lafayette. He was born in Loretta, Tennessee on February 1, 1948 to the late Thomas “Shorty” Stephenson and Bessie Irene (Littrell) Stephenson. John graduated from Brazil High School in 1966, and married Jackie Neese on July 23, 1976. He retired after 39 years as. Trailer builder for Great Dane.

John enjoyed traveling with Jackie, fishing, raising birds, and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Sue Stephenson.

Survivors include her sons, Chris (Jamie) Stephenson, Rick (Josette) Stephenson, and Tim (Michelle) Stephenson; step-children, Pam (David) Treash, William Johnson, and Cassandra “Susie” (Kevin) Eckiss; brother, William Stephenson; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
