Joseph Melega

Joseph Melega, Jr., 89, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. He was born in Diamond, Indiana on March 11, 1933 to the late Joseph Melega, Sr. and Anna (Ricca) Melega. Joe graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1951, and served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a laborer and inspector at a steel mill, and retired in 1993. Joe was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church.

In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching NASCAR. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, and his sister Mable Knott.

Survivors include his nieces, Karen (Bob) Judson, of Rosedale and Patty (Don) Steward of Terre Haute; nephew, William (Barb) Knott of Eldorado, IL; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil with Father John Hollowell officiating and burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton, Indiana. The family will accept friends for visitation on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M until the time of service.
