Karen Lee Bedwell, 70, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care with her family by her side. She was born in Brazil on October 15, 1954 to the late Samuel and Mary Maxine (Nicoson) Beaman, and graduated from Brazil High School in 1973. Karen married Robert Bedwell, Jr. on January 30, 1976. Together they raised two sons, Eric Robert and Adam Lee. During their life together, they raised and cared for cows, and a number of other “critters”: cats, dogs, chickens, goats, raccoons, deer and fish.
The family spent the summers at the family cabin in Nestor Falls, Ontario. Karen enjoyed fishing on the lake and watching the boys and then her granddaughters play in the water. Karen was a flower enthusiast, building a beautiful water garden and backyard with a colorful variety of flowers and plants. She enjoyed quilting, and together with her mother, made several quilts over the years for many family members. Karen enjoyed the holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Years, with Christmas being the highlight. She loved everything about the holiday, the lights and decorations, the glow of her beautiful tree and all the shopping and wrapping she could do. Her greatest joy in life were her two beautiful granddaughters, Adlynn Grace and Alaina Faith.
Karen fought valiantly for many years to be able to be a part of “her girls’” lives. She attended every school function, sporting event and anything else they participated in, whenever she was able. She spent hours crafting, story telling, cooking and just being with her two greatest joys. They gave her the motivation and drive to keep pushing through every cancer treatment and test.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maxine Beaman and her in laws, Robert “Bob” and Dorothy (Hudson) Bedwell, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, Bob; her sons Eric Bedwell of Center Point and Adam (Jennifer) Bedwell of Brazil; granddaughters, Adlynn and Alaina Bedwell of Brazil; brother, Ronald (Alice) Beaman of Brazil; sister, Connie (Joe) Lunsford of Brazil; nieces Lisa (Jeff) Warren of Brazil, Rita (Chris) Latham of Greencastle, and her nephew, Joey (Lynsey) Lunsford of Brazil; as well as great nieces, nephews, many dear friends and a very special cat, Boy.
