Larry Wayne Dobson

Larry Wayne Dobson, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on August 25, 1942 in Greencastle, Indiana to the late John and Lois (Neese) Dobson. Larry attended Reelsville High School and graduated in the class of 1962. The following year he married Mary Lanham on October 5, 1963. Together they raised three children. 

Larry worked most of his life as a contractor, construction worker, and farmer. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed building furniture for his home, as well as building things for his grandchildren. Larry was very talented in everything he did. If anything needed repaired, Larry was there to fix it. When Larry was not working, he enjoyed attending auctions and gardening. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. 

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Dobson; son, David Dobson; and sister, Dorothy Childress. 

Survivors include his significant other of 12 years, Kathryn McKenzie and her family, of Brazil; son, Donald Dobson of Brazil; daughter, Lori (Mike) Escott of Brazil; daughter-n-law, Denise Dobson of Terre Haute; brother, John (Laura) Dobson of Reelsville; sisters, Marilyn (Joe) Walden of Greencastle, Nancy (Steve) Gardener of Florida, Martha (Ed) Kendall of Reelsville, Rebecca Jaeger of California; grandchildren, Allie Dobson, Jacob (Destiny) Dobson, Taylor Dove, Sierra Dobson; great-grandchildren, Ryan Fortune, Easton Minger, Daisy Dobson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery in Reelsville. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s honor to the Clay County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
