Larry Swearingen, 72, passed away unexpectedly Monday September 13, 2021 in Brazil, Indiana. He was born in Brazil on August 18, 1949 to Chester Leroy Swearingen and Bonnie (Phillips) Swearingen-Lister. Larry graduated from Staunton High School in 1967, and earned his Batchelor’s Degree in Earth Science from Indiana State University. He married Virginia Ruth Leach on July 31, 1971. Larry worked in the Fab Shop at Great Dane Trailers and was a member of the Staunton First Christian Church.
In his early years he enjoyed bowling and playing basketball. Larry loved to mow grass and spend time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Fredrick Donald Lister; brother, Jerry Swearingen; sister-in-law, Sandy Swearingen; and niece, Novaleigh Abel.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Swearingen of Brazil; sons, Shawn Swearingen of Brazil and Scott Swearingen of Indianapolis; daughter, Laura Swearingen of Carbon; brothers, Gerald (Trish) Swearingen of Ontario, Canada, Ernest Swearingen of Brazil; sister, Kim (Jim) Huffer of Brazil; grandsons, Austin (Brianna) Westfall and Seth Westfall; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Delilah, and Charles; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating, visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute.
