Leland Stevenson, 93, passed away on December 14, 2025 at I.U. West in Avon. He was born on August 16, 1932 in Ashboro, Indiana to the late Maurice and Hulda (Lowdermilk) Stevenson. Leland graduated from Ashboro High School in 1950, and earned his Master’s Degree from Indiana State University. He married Dorothy Grace Ledgerwood on March 14, 1952, and served his country United States Army during the Korean War. Leland was a farmer since birth, and worked in education for over 35 years, starting at Plainfield Schools and continued as a principal with IPS Schools #41, #61, and #112. During summers, he drove for Greyhound Bus Lines. After retiring from IPS he drove for 4 Star Transportation. Leland was a member of the East Morgan Church of Christ in Spencer, Indiana.

Leland’s favorite pastime was windshield farming, and using his tractor. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycle trips to Canada, working crossword puzzles, loafing with his buddies drinking coffee, and visiting with family and friends.

Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Grace Stevenson; sisters, Eileen Shanks, and Doris Elaine Brown; brother, Myron Stevenson; and grandsons, Kent Stevenson and Kenneth Stevenson.

Survivors include his sons, Scott (Anita) Stevenson, Ashley (Lisa) Stevenson, Drew (Debora) Stevenson; Eight Grandchildren; Nineteen Great-Grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 19, 2025 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jared Jacobs officiating and burial to follow at Brown Cemetery in Center Point. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
