Lillian Rosalee (Williams) Hauser Sunrise 08/27/1928 – Sunset 02/25/2025
Lillian Rosalee Hauser (nee Williams) was born to Clara (Clingerman) & Earl Williams on August 27, 1928, in Benton County, Indiana. She graduated from Bowling Green High School, Class of 1946. Glenroie John Hauser and Lillian were joined in marriage on July 30, 1949. As the matriarch of her family, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian was an avid reader and instilled a love of reading and learning in her child and grandchildren. Aside from raising their daughter, Glenna Lee Simons (nee Hauser), she & Glenroie were instrumental in raising their three grandchildren: Jonathan Simons (Emily) of New Milford, Connecticut (Baby Phoebe); Christopher Simons (Numia) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Adrienne); and Katherine Simons Parvin (Larry) of Terre Haute, Indiana (Lillian, Calliope, & Peregrine). She was a doting Mammaw to her grand- and great-grandchildren and always spent as much time with them as possible. She was extremely proud of her family and their accomplishments.
She and Glenroie enjoyed motorcycling and traveling across the United States and Canada, their most memorable trip driving the Alaska Highway. They have been to 49 of the 50 United States—all except Hawaii. They even enjoyed a family trip to Havanna, Cuba, in 1956! Collecting State magnets, as well as a variety of salt & pepper shakers were hobbies that pleased Lillian greatly. Additionally, Lillian was a lifetime Superfan of Larry Bird. She was an avid Indiana sports fan—loving to root on the Pacers and the Colts.
Lillian attended St. George’s Episcopal Church in West Terre Haute, Indiana. She enjoyed attending Sunday services with her daughter and getting to know her fellow congregants.
Throughout her 96 years, Lillian has always been a pure-hearted and kind mother figure. She embraced the numerous friends of her daughter and grandkids, taking the time and care to always learn their names and about their families. Although she did not love cooking, she always ensured everyone had something to fill their tummies; she often made Aldi trips with her granddaughter to find delicious snacks. Her kitchen was always filled with yummy cheeses and multiflavored wafer cookies.
Lillian was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Glenroie. She was also predeceased by her parents; an infant brother, Vernon E Williams; and her two sisters, Mary Jane Foster & Leona Russelot. Her sister-in-laws, with whom she enjoyed a close relationship, also predeceased Lillian: Rosalind Schopmeyer, Mary Lou Schopmeyer, and Linda Romas. She is survived by her daughter, Glenna; three grandchildren and five granddaughters; her baby brother Earl Leroy Williams, Jr.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and honorary grandchildren.
She was the most dependable rock in the family, and she would never turn down an opportunity to hug and kiss and love on her family members. She will be forever missed and cherished by her family and community.
