Lois Jean Riggs, 93, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Staunton, Indiana. She was born on September 4, 1926 in Clay County to the late Ernest and Dora (Kirschner) Steuerwald. Lois graduated from Cory High School in 1944, and later married Harrison Riggs. She loved gardening, going out to eat and spending time with friends and family. 

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison; son, James Riggs; brothers, Wayne, Winston, and Henry Steuerwald; sisters, Audrey Coffee and Rosemary Russell; as well as a granddaughter, Holly Smith.

    Daughter:    Vicki (Clayton Ames) Smith, Brazil, Indiana

    Daughter-in-law:    April Riggs, Greenville, South Carolina

    Brother:    Earl Steuerwald, Rockville, Indiana

    Sister:        Erma Pugh, Terre Haute, Indiana

    Grandchildren:    Kevin (Ashley Sabin) Smith and J.R. Riggs

    Great Grandchildren:    Hannah Smith, Mathew Smith, Jordan Berardi, Karson (Elizabeth Stiles) Smith, Clayton Smith, Bill Moss, Cameron Moss, Jace Harrington, and Chance Harrington

    Great-Great Grandson: Christopher Smith, Avery Stiles

    Special Friends:    Sherry Stultz, Tim Asbury and Rhonda Fullers 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. The family will accept friends for visitation on Monday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
