Marilyn (McCall) Pickett Obituary

Marilyn Pickett, 83, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at her home in Brazil. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on December 9,1939 to the late Clarence and Pearl (Sutherland) McCall. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1959. Marilyn worked several places over the years including Chesty’s, Colonial Thrift Bread Store, and Adamson’s Laundry.

Marilyn was a crafty lady who enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, painting, and ceramics. She also loved spending time with her family. Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Ray; brothers, Don, Ray, Chet and Kenny McCall; and her sisters, Virginia McCall and Mildred Stewart.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Modesit; daughter, Carol Gehrke; seven grandchildren who called her Mimi, Mistina, Chris and wife Netta, John Jacob, Rusty, Chad, Brad and wife Enez, and Chelsea; eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will take place at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her first husband, John Modesitt at Calcutta Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home in Brazil was entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
