Mary Alice Lowdermilk passed away Monday, August 25,2025 at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Owen County, Indiana on August 2, 1935 to the late Claude and Mae(Rumple) Bowman. Mary Alice graduated from Ashboro High School, where she met her sweetheart, Dane Lowdermilk. They married on May 16, 1953. She spent many years working as a school cafeteria worker and later as custodian, where she loved interacting with generations of students.
Mary Alice was a proud member of North Union Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, baking and spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dane; and her sons, Gregory and Michael Lowdermilk; brothers, Junior, Kenneth, Charles, Clifford, and Russell Bowman; and her sisters, Coleen Smith and Hazel Parrish.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Cathy Lowdermilk; and her grandchildren, Alexis Lowdermilk, MaddyLowdermilk, and Ellie Lowdermilk; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Sunday, August 31, 2025 at North Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Aselage officiating and burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City. The family will accept friends for visitation on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Union United Methodist Church or the Clay County Humane Society.
