Mary Margaret “Peggy” Pierce, 95, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born on October 6, 1928 in Brazil, Indiana to the late Earl and Elizabeth (Raybold) Carter. Peggy graduated from Brazil High School in 1946, was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, and worked for Gasway Insurance for many years.
Peggy liked going for rides, working word search puzzles, reading and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors, and working in her flower beds. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Pierce; second husband, Ted Elwell; sons, Joseph Earl Pierce and Gary Elwell; daughter, Connie Adamson; brother, Robert (Laura) Carter; Sister, Betty Alice (Bob) Skitt; and brother-in-law, Harold Williams.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Kathy) Pierce; daughters, Penny (Rod) Harbaugh, Polly Pierce, Angie Pierce, and Karen Cunningham; sister, Patricia Williams; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2024 at Bee Ridge Cemetery in Brazil. Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
