Nancy Ellen Turner, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis. She was born on January 22, 1954 in Clay County to the late Ivan and Joanna (Hendrix) Fritz. Nancy graduated from Brazil High School in 1972, and attended Indiana State University. She was employed by Amax and worked as a coal miner for 38 years before retiring. Nancy was a member of Breden Memorial United Methodist Church. In her younger years, Nancy enjoyed mushroom hunting with her dad and helping him in the garden. She supported the Humane Society, and loved cats and dogs. Nancy was very creative; having been skilled in pottery, painting, weaving, and designing. She was also a caretaker for her parents.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Marshall Hendrix; aunt, Vivian Winters; and niece, Lindsey Bowman. Survivors include her sister, Marcia (Dick) Raab of Brazil; nephew, Jerad (Ashley) Bowman of Center Point; nieces, Angela Raab of Brazil, Lori (Chris) Brenner of Brownsburg; great-nephew, River Bowman; great-nieces, Addison Bowman, Ellie Bowman, Zoe Brenner; special cousins, Jay (Darlene) Hendrix, Jim Hendrix, Jack (Laura) Hendrix all of Terre Haute; as well as many other extended family members.
A private memorial service will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil. Burial will take place at Clearview Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s honor to the Clay County Humane Society located at 8280 N County Road 125 W #7535, Brazil, Indiana 47834.
