Norma Jean (Waymire) Fortune

Harmony, Indiana

Norma Jean Fortune, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 1, 1927 in Brazil, Indiana to the late Ernest and Violet (Michael) Waymire.  Norma graduated from Brazil High School and later married the love of her life, Donald Fortune, in August of 1950. 

Norma was a hard working stay-at-home mother, and enjoyed her role as a caregiver.  She loved spending time with her family and crafting in her free time. Norma was a seamstress and could sew just about anything. She also loved her Lord and was a member of Brazil Bible Fellowship for many years.  

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, brothers; Ernest Waymire, Jr., John Waymire, and Bill Waymire, sister; Dinah Moore, and infant triplet siblings.  

Norma is survived by her children; Jerry Fortune of Brazil, IN, Kathleen (Steve) Gilbert of Brazil, IN, and Maureen (Mark) Butler of Harmony, IN, sister; Julia Wilson of Nashville, TN, sister-n-law; Martha Fortune of Terre Haute, IN, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Summit Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Rick May officiating.  The family will accept friends at the cemetery for visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
