Brazil, Indiana

Opal M. Whitkanack, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 1, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Opheim, Montana on August 22, 1931 to the late Severt and Jennie (Johnson) Biem. Opal graduated from Glasgow High School in Montana, and married Fred Whitkanack on March 3, 1957. She was a member of the Fairview Church, and owner of the Sunshine Bible and Gift Store.

In her free time she enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, dancing, and singing in the church choir. Opal spent many hours volunteering throughout the community. She was preceded in death by her sibilings, Anard, Randy, Ernest, Raymond, Ilene and Vernice; as well as her grandsons, David Guinn and Kevin Morge.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Fred Whitkanack; son, Eugene (Nancy) Jenks; daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Stewart and Barbara (David) Morge; Seven grandchildren, Fifteen Great-grandchildren, Eight Great-Great Grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Doug Parkey officiating and burial to follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Church (12075 W. Co. Rd. 200 N. Brazil, Indiana) or the Salvation Army of Terre Haute (234 S 8th St, Terre Haute, IN 47807).
