Otto Ronald “Ron” Harms, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born on April 9, 1943 in Terre Haute to the late Otto R. and Katherine I. (Thompson) Harms. Ron graduated from Brazil High School in the class of 1961, and married Linda Callahan on November 13, 1976. He was a long time member of Union Christian Church in Terre Haute.
Ron was a business man. He took ownership of his parent’s business, Otto’s Gas Company, where he worked and managed for 37 years. He also started Ronlin Transport and Hoosier Homes and Land, before working as a real estate agent for Remax. In his free time, Ron enjoyed the outdoors, yard work, and bowling. He was also an avid golfer at Forest Park.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Harms of Brazil; son, Russell (Elizabeth Curry) Harms of Brazil; daughters, Melinda (Bernie) Meunier of Brazil, Molly (Roger) Schopmeyer of Bowling Green, Melanie (Ray) McIlrath of Newington, Georgia, Dava Hamm (Phil Jr.) Boor of Brazil; grandchildren, William Harms, Owen Harms, Bralynne (Mark Jr.) Meyers, Brek Meunier, Brinn (April) Meunier, Bryce (Maria) Schopmeyer, Bryleigh (Derrick) Smith, Corrie (Brant) Robbins, Robert (Jess) McIlrath, Aaron McIlrath, Trey (Alea) Boor, Dalyn (Matthew) Musall; great-grandchildren, Kullen, Katherine, Klaire, Karter, Calli, Chloe, Michael, Oakley, Braxton, Easton, Casen, Colsyn, Willow, Wyatt, Giselle; mother-n-law, Arlene Barrington; brother-n-laws, David Callahan, Tim (Tammy) Callahan; companion, Ashes; as well as other family members and friends.
Moore Funeral Home in Brazil has been entrusted with Ron’s cremation arrangements. A private graveside service will be held at Clearview Cemetery.
