Ralph “Pat” Edward Egloff, 90, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 the Gibson Family Hospice Center in Terre Haute after a brief illness. He was born in Carbon, Indiana on March 29, 1935 to the late Oscar and Esther (Wells) Egloff. Ralph graduated from Van Buren High School and earned his Master’s Degree from Indiana State Teachers College. He spent his career as an educator, spending 25 years teaching and 17 years as an administrator for Clay Community Schools. Ralph was a lifetime member of the Carbon Community Church, where he served as treasurer for over 60 years. He married Joan Matthews on April 12, 1963.
Ralph enjoyed traveling, gardening, growing orchids, and arranging flowers. He enjoyed playing euchre, and loved planning church events for the Covered Bridge Festival. He was well known for his baking skills, he would always have pies and rolls for gatherings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Egloff; brothers, Clarence Egloff, and Ernest Egloff; sister, Martha Robbins; sister-in-law, Mary Egloff; son-in-law, Jim Greenwell.
He leaves behind his daughters, Kimberly (Darrel) Bourne and Teresa Greenwell; grandson, Jimmy Greenwell; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 8, 2025 at Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Sunday, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carbon Community Church.
