Raymond McCoy, 81, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at his home in Brazil. He was born on November 23, 1940 in Central City, Kentucky to the late William and Opal (Carroll) McCoy. Ray graduated from Owensboro High School, and joined the National Guard. He married his high school sweetheart, Carrie Lynda Yonts on November 19, 1958. They are members of Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil for over 30 years. Ray was a truck driver for ABL for over 20 years, and was the founder and owner of McCoy Exterminating. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, an ordained minister for Trinity Baptist Church in the ’70’s, and a speaker for the Dale Carnegie Training courses. In his free time, Ray enjoyed mowing grass, walking, riding his bicycle, and most importantly spending time with family.
Ray is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra McCoy; brothers, Gerald, Jimmy, Eddie, and Thomas McCoy. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carrie Lynda McCoy of Brazil; sons, Jeff McCoy of Terre Haute, Greg (Jayne) McCoy of Brazil, Chris (Nicki) McCoy of Sullivan; daughters, Sheila (Ken) Thompson of Center Point, Marsha (Mike) Duregger of Brazil, Vicki (David) Cooprider of Brazil, Cathy (Larren) Smoot of Dallas, Texas; brother, Ralph (Sue) McCoy of Owensboro, Kentucky; sister, Donna Sue (Richard) Horn of Owensboro, Kentucky; 42 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; as well as several other extended family members and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil with Father John Hollowell officiating and burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil.
