Richard “Fred” Fredrick Finkbiner, Jr. 70, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on September 28, 1953 to the late Richard and Edna (Fisher) Finkbiner, Sr. Fred married Judy Morris on July 15, 1971.
Fred was the head sawyer at Ringo’s Sawmill for many years, until it went out of business. He then worked for several years at Hoosier Hardwood. Fred was also the co-owner of Clay County Internet. He enjoyed woodworking, and made many beautiful items the his family members will cherish for generations. Fred enjoyed watching movies, being outside, and entertaining his family with his dry sense of humor. He was a rock and a pillar to his wife.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Brockman and Patty Marie Finkbiner.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judy Finkbiner; his daughter, Lori (Noel) Monk of Pershing, Indiana; his son, Richard Leon Finkbiner of Florida; grandchildren, Levi (Amanda) Monk of Newaygo, Michigan and Beth Monk of Pershing, Indiana; his sisters, Cheryle (Carl) Arn of Van Wert, Ohio and Becky (Bill) Hurtig of Paulding, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Moore Funeral Home in Brazil was entrusted with Fred’s cremation arrangements. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care (400 8th Avenue, Terre Haute, IN 47804).
