Rita (Robinson) Girton

Rita Girton, 72, passed away March 17, 2022 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on April 20, 1949 to the late William and Anita (Spear) Robinson. Rita graduated from Brazil High School, and later married Harlan “Peanut” Girton, who preceded her in death. She worked as a beautician for many years, and attended Bethel Chapel in Brazil. 

Rita had a huge heart and loved caring for people, often visiting them for hair appointments at their home. She was active in her community, helping with the Shop With a Cop Program. In her free time she loved spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s functions and meeting with friends. Rita enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing.

Survivors include her sons, Jason (Andrea) Eckard, and Anthony Dale Girton; daughters, Stephanie (Charles) Riggs, Lori Ann Ward, Mindy (John) Belcher, and Danica (Mike) Mecila; sister, Janet (Robert) Ryan; father of her children, Stephen Eckard; grandchildren, Peyton, Preston, Taylor, Dylan, and Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil. The family will accept friends for visitation on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service.
