Robert Newport, 79, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Clay County, Indiana on January 3, 1945 to the late Herbert and Vivian (Stanz) Newport. He attended Van Buren High School, and worked for RCA for almost 30 years. Robert married Evelyn Passmore on November 4, 1980.

Robert enjoyed watching NASCAR, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Robby, Robert Newport, and Ricky King; and his brothers, Ronnie and Mike Newport.

Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Shelly) King and Greg King; daughters, Deanna Jones, Shelly (Tony) Terrell, Debbie King, Cheryl King, Tammy Groomer, Amy Poe, and Jennifer Vandeventer; brother, Randy Newport; sisters, Charlotte (Dave) Dinn and Kelly (Bill) Moore; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, February 2, 2024 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor John Pierce officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service.
