Sarah Marie Brown, 78, passed in her sleep after a year long battle with diabetes. She has been a patient at Hutsonwood for the past few months.

Sarah was born to David K. and Margaret A. Brown on July 4, 1946 in Clay County. She lived in the New England area for most of her life. Besides her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Goodnight, Julia J. Sutherlin (Tobe), Margaret E. Baratto, (Gino), and one brother, David K. Brown,Jr.(Joann). Also one niece and a nephew. 

    Sarah is survived by several nieces and nephews. She had a particularly close relationship to her niece Julia Ann Bradford, who helped care for her for many years. 

    Sarah graduated from Van Buren High School I 1964. She furthered her education at Indiana State University with a Bachelor degree on Business. Sarah was employed by Colombia House for many years and did retire from there. 

    Sarah loved to shop and could be found at the discount and thrift stores around Brazil many times a week. Saving a few cents on anything was a hobby for Sarah.          She was also fond of animals and cared for many dogs during her life. Sarah and her Mom shared many years of love together at their home. She was particularly fond of “Cooper”, a beloved pet of her niece Julia Ann.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating and burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Tuesday from 12:00 noon, until the time of service.
