Stephen Auterson

Stephen Auterson, 65, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born on November 2, 1956 in New Goshen, Indiana to the late Daniel and Merle (Brock) Auterson. Steve attended West Vigo High School and graduated in the class of 1968. He married Teresa Slater on May 28, 1977. Steve worked as a custodian for Clay Community Schools and also worked in construction and concrete. In his free time, Steve enjoyed anything outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren. 

Steve is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Baysinger. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Teresa Auterson of Carbon; sons, Jason Auterson and Steven Auterson of Carbon; daughters, Rachel Auterson of Crawordsville, Stacy (John) Boatman of Brazil; as well as 6 adopted children; brothers, Darrel (Kathy) Auterson of Pennsylvania, Tom Auterson of Brazil, Paul Auterson of Rockville; sisters, Janet Gorman of Chicago, Danielle Purcell of Terre Haute, Cheryl Auterson of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Sara, Matthew, Mia, Aliza, Emma, Aria, A.J., and Mercedes; as well as other extended family members and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 17, 2021 at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, with Pastor Devon Dove officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help cover final expenses.
