Steven Hoopingarner

Steven Ronald Hoopingarner, 70, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 19, 1951 in Brazil to Ronald and Jeannine (Ewing) Hoopingarner. Steve attended Van Buren High School and graduated in the class of 1969. He married his life long love, Diana Shaw, in 1982. Steve went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Depauw University in 1982. He was a school teacher at Van Buren Elementary for 42 years before he retired. 

Steve enjoyed traveling in his motor home around the country with his family; visiting beaches, theme parks, and Disney. He also loved reading, listening to music, and being outdoors. Steve’s greatest passion was teaching and helping children learn. 

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Hoopingarner. Survivors include his wife, Diana Hoopingarner; sons, Andrew (Amber) Hoopingarner, Eric Hoopingarner; daughters, Hayley Hoopingarner, Heather Carman; mother, Jeannine Hoopingarner; brother, Bruce (Annette) Hoopingarner; sisters, Rhonda (Rick) Louderback, Ann Hoopingarner; grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Benjamin, Aubrey; as well as other extended family members and friends. 

Moore Funeral Home in Brazil has been entrusted with Steve’s cremation arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Clay County Humane Society located at 8280 N County Road 125 W, Brazil, Indiana 47834.
