Thelma Joan Knust, 96, passed away, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville with her family by her side. She was born in Brazil, Indiana on October 12, 1926 to the late Orville “Mitch” and Vallie Faye (Pollum) Barding. Joan graduated from Brazil High School in 1944 and married Cyril “Buck” Knust on September 27, 1947.

She attended Ashboro United Methodist Church for many years. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting angels, playing Bingo, babysitting and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; son, Tony Knust; son-in-law, Paul Joseph Lynch; and grandson, Joe Lynch.

Survivors include her son, Philip L. (Nola) Knust of Terre Haute; daughter, Bonnie Lynch of Brazil; grandchildren, Angela (Shawn) Cox, Kristin (David) Phelps, Jesse (Jessica) Chambers, Andrew (Austin) Knust, Lucy Knust; great-grandchildren, Dakota (Shannon) Cox, Danielle Bowling, Kylee Phelps, Damien (Cheyenne) Gouchenour, Emma Chambers, Dalton Chambers, Mallory Knust, Carlee Stallcop, and Josie Lynch; great-great-grandchildren, Brandon, Emma, Zaida, Elizabeth, Evelyn, and one on the way.

A private funeral service will be held at Moore Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ashboro Cemetery.
